As I, Hades, sit in my throne in the Underworld I grow angrier. I’m angry with Odysseus. The man has been avoiding death. An army has attacked him. I only received a few souls of his men. Then after spending time with Circe, he goes to the island of the Cyclopes. This pitiful excuse for a man stabbed my ‘nephews’ eye. Not that I care that much about him. My brothers decided in how to take care of him. I’m sure Poseidon was angry. He probably wanted to have him killed. Oh how I would enjoy that soul. Zeus had to have calmed Poseidon down. What a shame! Finally, he shows up at the Island of the Dead. So close to my home, oh how I would have loved to have killed him then. Yet for some reason I let him talk to his solider, mother, and of course the prophet Thebes. That prophet, I should keep him from people. He informs that so-called “hero” all his men will die, but not him. I will love all those souls. He has so many crewmen. How horribly nice it will be down here with them. He has gone through Scylla and Charybdis unharmed. I got a few of his men so far, but not all of them. I want ODYSSEUS! I want his soul down here. Why is this man avoiding death? I know he is just one soul, compared to all the souls his men and himself have given me fighting, but I want to watch the consequences of his death. The suffering of his wife and son, how splendid that would be. Now we are getting somewhere. Ah the are entering now. The idiots Odysseus calls “crewman”. How hard is it not to eat a few cows? Odysseus is heading home now. I hope he dies fighting the men trying to marry his wife, and kill his son. Oh, all the men that are entering now. That means, NO, he survived! This man has avoided death at every turn. I want his soul. It’s a shame he isn’t dead. His age is getting high in numbers, though, soon I will get this man. Soon I shall have him sent here in the depths of the Underworld. That will be glorious. For now, I Hades, will sit here and rule over the dead, and wait the arrival of the “hero” Odysseus.
